Nine European Championships and a colourful festival

The European Championships Munich 2022 are the sporting event of the summer! From 11 – 21 August, nine Olympic sports will crown their European champions in the Bavarian capital. And you can be there live!

Sport returns to the luscious green park for the 50th anniversary of Olympiapark and the 1972 Olympic Games. Five European Championships will be held here during the European Championships. Athletics will enchant Olympiastadion. Olympiahalle will once again become a stage for artistic gymnastics. Around Olympiaberg and throughout the entire park, athletes will cycle for the European crown, whether on a mountain bike, a BMX bike or as one of three disciplines in the triathlon. But that’s not all. Because with several locations, the festival “The Roofs” offers a colourful variety of activities, food and concerts for all visitors.

A new piece of history will be written at the historic Königsplatz with the staging of the European Championships in sport climbing and beach volleyball. For the first time ever, the climbers will award titles in the new Olympic combined format boulder & lead. Opposite of them, Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sørum will give it their all to secure their fifth consecutive European Championship title on the sand.

Munich Olympic Regatta Centre

Built for the 1972 Olympic Games, Munich Olympic Regatta Centre will host two European Championships to mark the anniversary. The best European athletes in rowing and canoe-sprint will gather here for European Championships Munich 2022. Para competitions in both sports will complete the already varied sports programme.

Unlike the regatta, Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle will be given a new assignment from a sporting point of view compared to 1972. Instead of basketball, table tennis will be played in the sports venue. In 2021, the German national team won four of the five titles available – the mission to defend these titles on home soil promises exciting competitions.

Messe München

The track cyclists are moving to Messe München for their championships. If you want to see the fastest athletes live, you can’t afford to miss their races.

There is a great additional benifit for all ticket holders. Because the Munich 2022 tickets can be used for public transport to the event at the same time! The local organising committee has teamed up with Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH for this purpose. That’s right, your MVV ticket is included in your ticket – so you can get to the competition and back home again stress-free and climate-friendly.
