S-Bahn Birthday Tour Day 1: Culinary Tour

Munich stands for Viktualienmarkt, Weißwurst, beer… The first stop on our birthday tour takes us on a culinary journey today.

Luckily, all the places where you can taste Munich's delicacies are also very easy to reach by S-Bahn. You should definitely visit the following places:

Viktualienmarkt: S-Bahn Stop Marienplatz

In the heart of Munich's old town, the Viktualienmarkt was originally a farmers' market and herb market. Today, it's a popular spot for gourmets and foodies, and for visitors to find everything from urbane Bavarian goods to exotic fruits.

Airbräu: S-Bahn Stop Munich Airport

Have you heard of the first airport brewery? Bavarian pub culture, traditional delicacies and home-brewed beers are ideal for those who have a little time before departure or for those who want to toast their stay in Munich after arrival. With the CityTourCard Munich you get a home-brewed beer 0.5 l with every main course.

Wirtshaus in der Au: S-Bahn Stop Rosenheimer Platz / Isartor

With the takeover of the restaurant and a complete reconstruction in 1993, a new chapter in the history of the property began. The Wirtshaus in der Au became one of Munich's most beautiful and popular district inns. Among other things, it is famous for the largest dumplings in Munich and numerous dumpling specialties.

Werksviertel: S-Bahn Stop Ostbahnhof

About 39 hectares of large city quarter combine living, working, and living together. Clubs, bars, and restaurants of various kinds find their home here. Pfanni, famous for its dumplings, had its main factory here until 1996. Our recommendation: Khanittha (Thai specialties).

Other recommendations:

Münchner Stub'n (CTC partner, 2 scoops of ice cream / 1 coffee on the house when eating a main course)

Bier- und Oktoberfest Museum (CTC partner, 1.50 € discount)

Älteste Brauerei Weihenstephan (S-Bahn Stop Freising)

All aboard, please! Next stop: Historical Tour.
