Many people are familiar with the situation: you plan a short trip to a city for two days and want to make the most of the time and visit and see as much as possible. But how do you plan such a day? Is it even possible to visit all the top highlights in a city as diverse as Munich in just two days? We have created a sample day plan for you! Read it for yourself 😉
The route is planned so that everything can be reached by public transport.
Day 1: Historical & scientific Munich
Start 09:30 am at Marienplatz
09:30-11:00 Marienplatz, New & Old Town Hall
Short tour, stroll around, take photos, look at the architecture
11:00 - 12:00 Frauenkirche (approx. 10 minute walk)
Visit to the onion domes, brief look inside
12:00 - 13:00 Walk to the Viktualienmarkt (approx. 10 minute walk)
Stroll around, try Bavarian specialties, buy souvenirs
13:00 - 14:00: Lunch
in a traditional beer garden or restaurant (e.g. Ratskeller on Marienplatz)
14:00-15:00 Munich Residence
Guided tour of the magnificent Hofburg, treasury
15:00-15:15 Hofgarten
Short walk through the Hofgarten, if time: take photos in front of the Theatinerkirche opposite.
15:35 - 17:00 German Museum (approx. 20 min from Odeonsplatz by public transport)
Explore the diverse exhibitions, interactive exhibits, experience science and technology up close
17:30 - Open End: Relax in the English Garden (approx. 30 min by public transport + walking)
Visit the Chinese Tower: eat, drink, end the day comfortably

Day 2: Modern & sporty highlights
Start 10:00 in the Olympic Park
10:00 - 11:30: Olympic Park & Olympic Lake
Walk around the lake, take photos of the outside area of the Olympic Stadium, enjoy beautiful viewpoints, possibly a short break at the lake for drinks or a snack (picnic or café in the park)*
*Olympic Stadium (from Oct. 2025) and Olympic Tower (since 2024) are temporarily closed due to renovation work, therefore only outside view possible
11:30 - 12:00: Travel by public transport to the BMW Museum (approx. 20-30 minutes, depending on starting point)
12:00 - 13:30: BMW Museum
Discover the history of the automobile, exhibitions and design, short break for coffee or snack in the museum café
13:30 - 14:00: Drive to Nymphenburg Palace (approx. 30 minutes)
14:00 - 15:00: Nymphenburg Palace & Park
Walk through the gardens, view the palace from the outside, possibly a brief look inside (depending on interest and time)
15:00 - 16:00: Drive to the Allianz Arena (approx. 1 hour)
16:15 - 18:00: Allianz Arena & FC Bayern Museum
Combitour: Tour of the stadium, visit to the museum, take photos, buy souvenirs, short break for drinks or snacks in the stadium area
18:00: Return journey or free time in the vicinity
depending on energy and interest (e.g. dinner in the city)
