7 questions for: KARUSA - Gifts that make you happy
There is a very special gift store in Munich's Untergiesing district: The Karusa. Here you are sure to find the perfect souvenir for your loved ones at home that is both handmade and unique. We asked our discount partner 7 questions so that you can find out even more about this enchanting store.
Describe the Karusa in one sentence:
Karusa is a colorful store for handmade, regional and special gifts that make people happy.
What highlight will there be at Karusa in 2024/2025?
No special highlight is currently planned, but a visit to Karusa is - according to many of our customers - always a highlight: with upbeat music from the 60s, you can always browse, discover, marvel, linger on the sofa, get creative yourself at the wrapping station, taste spirits in our small “store in store” and simply feel good.
What kind of gifts can you find at Karusa?
Karusa has gifts for all your loved ones. Grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, friends, colleagues, siblings, babies....All products are lovingly selected and either handmade, regional or e.g. fair, socially, environmentally friendly. In other words, individual gifts that you can give with a clear conscience.
Where do the products come from?
Handmade items come from craftspeople from Munich and the surrounding area. Some of them even come from the immediate neighborhood. Most of the products come from the region. Some also come from far away, if they are products from companies that create fair jobs in Nepal or Ghana, for example, or from companies that create added value for the environment and society (B Corp).
Is there an online store?
We don't have an online store, so we're counting on you to visit us in person, maybe even include us in your next city trip to Munich or recommend us to your friends and acquaintances. We are happy about EVERY visit and thrive on the fact that there are people who appreciate the shopping experience in a small store run with heart and soul, who want to discover and shop with all their senses, who value handmade, regional or special gifts and who want to support people in the region as well as social projects. One of the reasons we don't have an online store is that some of our items are one-offs, which means we can't offer them both in the store and online. We would also prefer to encourage you to actually come into our store, because we are sure that this is the nicer way for you to shop and that you will definitely leave our store in a good mood and inspired. And by the way: the world urgently needs good-humored and inspired people!
What else should you definitely see in Munich?
I think the Olympic Park is great - the architecture and the park! The surfers at the Eisbach wave and the English Garden are also well worth seeing. Also the Elisabethmarkt in Schwabing, but of course the Viktualienmarkt and the beautiful old town.
Typical Munich:
In my opinion, there is no such thing as a typical Munich anymore. Munich is slowly becoming more modern and every district has its own flair. Ours - Untergiesing - is of course particularly cool ;o). But I can think of a few things, e.g. Bussi Bussi, beer and pretzels, the Isar, the Wiesn, enjoying the sunset on the Hackerbrücke. Munich is also cosmopolitan and a bit grumpy.
