Dachau
Dachau is where artists, colorful nature, royal buildings and places of remembrance meet. Dachau Castle was built in the 16th century and served as the residence of the Bavarian dukes. It is surrounded by a beautiful park and offers an impressive view of the surrounding area. There is also a museum there that documents the history of the town of Dachau and the region. Visitors can tour the historic rooms and learn more about the cultural significance of the castle.
Dachau provided an inspiring environment for painters, sculptors and other artists who worked and created their works here. The artists' colony was known for its variety of styles and techniques, and many important artists, including some who were close to Expressionism, lived and worked here. Many events still take place there today.
Many people are certainly familiar with the concentration camp memorial in Dachau. The site acts as an important place of learning, especially for young people, to find out more about the events and to come to terms with the various impressions.
Stumbling stones and other works of art commemorate the many victims of that time.
Dachau can be reached by S2 train from Munich.

Ebersberg
Nature and Bavarian tradition come together in Ebersberg. From Munich, you can take the S4 and S6 to Grafing Stadt or travel straight through to Ebersberg. Ebersberg offers a charming mix of nature, history and leisure activities that are well worth a visit. There are numerous opportunities for outdoor activities in the surrounding area, such as cycling, hiking and, in winter, skiing in the nearby Alps, e.g. in the Ebersberg Forest.
You can learn more about the history of the town and the region at the Ebersberg Town Museum. The museum offers various exhibitions and events.
There are many well-preserved historical buildings in Grafing that reflect the history of the town. Depending on the time of year, various events and festivals take place in Grafing, offering an insight into the local culture.

Erding
The district of Erding can be reached from Munich with the S2. Here you can experience the Erding thermal baths to relax and unwind. A special highlight is the Galaxy slide world, which is equipped with various slides for all age groups. The thermal spa is also known for its relaxing wellness offers, such as massages and beauty treatments.
The brewery tour for Erdinger wheat beer is also exciting in Erding. There you will learn how it is brewed, what happens in the bottling plant and why it is so cool in the high-bay warehouse. Your experts from the visitor center know all about it and have the answers to (almost) all your questions. The tour is available in German and English and lasts approx. 3 hours including refreshments.
Of course, Erding also has some really beautiful nature to offer. The Kronthaler Weiher is a great swimming lake and invites you to linger and take a walk, even in spring. There is also a small mini-golf course. If you like cycling, you will find many beautiful tours in Erding. You can find an overview of beautiful routes here.

Freising
The city of Freising is known for its historic old town with beautiful, well-preserved buildings. One highlight is the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Corbinian, with its impressive architecture and beautiful frescoes.
Another interesting place is the Old Residence, which now houses a museum. If you like walking, a visit to the Weihenstephaner Berg with its great view of the surrounding area is well worthwhile.
Freising is also known for its brewing culture, especially the Weihenstephan Brewery, which is considered to be the oldest brewery in the world. Here you can take part in guided tours and taste the different beers. In addition, there are numerous events and festivals that take place throughout the year, as well as lovely cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine.

Fürstenfeldbruck
The Fürstenfeldbruck region is the perfect excursion destination for baroque enthusiasts. The Fürstenfeld monastery area is the town's landmark and impresses with a baroque church in many pastel shades and gold leaf elements. The Fürstenfeldbruck Museum provides insights into the town's history as well as more detailed information on the monastery's special furnishings. There are also many beautiful paths for walking and hiking. You can find great example routes on Komoot, for example. The region can be reached from Munich with the S4, S3 and S8.

Landkreis München
In addition to the city of Munich, there is also the district of Munich, which virtually surrounds the north, east and south of the city of Munich. There are many beautiful opportunities to enjoy nature and the surrounding area! For example, you can explore the picturesque hiking and cycling trails that lead through the idyllic countryside.
If you really like Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, then Schleißheim Palace is sure to inspire you too. There is the “new” and the “old” Schleißheim Palace, as well as Lustheim Palace. A beautiful park surrounds the buildings and is open to visitors.
