6 reasons for a day visit to Lake Tegernsee
There are many reasons to visit the Bavarian Oberland. Here we have 6 good reasons for you to visit Lake Tegernsee.
Combine your visit to the city of Munich with excursions into nature and other places of interest! The M-12 fare option of the CityTourCard Munich offers you the opportunity to use public transport in the entire network of the Munich Transport Association (MVV). The districts of the respective zones are marked on the map. Some of the highlights of these areas are also marked:
With the M-12 fare option, you can visit Munich (Zone M in green) and the surrounding districts (Zone 1-6 in orange) by public transport. In addition, the districts of Miesbach, Bad Tölz* – Wolfratshausen, Rosenheim (zones 7-12 in blue), Landsberg am Lech, Weilheim-Schongau, Mühldorf am Inn, Landshut, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are also included. You can also use the ticket to travel to Kufstein in Austria!
*Note: Part of the district is already accessible with the M-6 ticket option.
Find out which highlights you can discover in the respective districts in our blogarticles.
With your Munich CityTourCard M-12, you can easily travel from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. If you want to visit Eibsee, you’ll need to take the Eibsee Bus (Line 323) from Garmisch.
There’s a fee for the Eibsee Bus for all passengers, regardless of what public transit ticket you have! For the round trip, they charge €12, payable to the bus driver (cash only!).
Additional notes: The Eibsee struggles with mass tourism during the summer months (peak season). If possible, please go to the lake very early in the morning or avoid visiting on weekends and during school breaks. The lake is beautiful in the summer, but the natural environment and local residents will appreciate it if you’re considerate. And from our own experience, we can tell you: You’ll have more fun there yourself if you visit the lake outside of peak hours.
By the way: Eibsee is also stunningly beautiful in the spring, fall, and winter and well worth a visit.
