Before you buy:

  • Select the right fare zone
  • Select the correct validity
  • Select a single or group ticket

In this post, you will learn how to use your CityTourCard Munich from start to finish.

Which fare zone do I need?

The CityTourCard Munich offers you the opportunity to reach not only Munich, but also the surrounding area and other vacation regions by public transport. This can seem a little complicated at first glance. Here is a brief overview of which areas are included:

M = complete Munich city area

M-6 = + Munich environs, incl. airport, Starnberg, Ammersee, Bad Tölz

M-12 = + Alpine foothills , incl. Schliersee, Tegernsee, Chiemsee, Rosenheim and more

If you are interested in an even more detailed description of the areas in the M-12 zone, please take a look at the following article: The CityTourCard Munich, mountains and lakes

What validity do I need?

The CityTourCard Munich is available for different time periods. With a 24 and 48-hour ticket, you can choose a starting time. From this time (or from the time of validation), the ticket is valid for the respective number of hours. With a 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-day ticket, the validity starts at midnight and ends at 6 a.m. on the FOLLOWING DAY after the expiry of the selected calendar days. Brief summary:24 hours -> Select start time48 hours -> select start time3 days -> 3 full calendar days + 6 o'clock on the following day4 days -> 4 full calendar days + 6 o'clock on the following day5 days -> 5 full calendar days + 6 o'clock on the following day6 days -> 6 full calendar days + 6 o'clock on the following day

Select single or group ticket

If you are traveling alone, a single ticket is of course sufficient (children are not included).

If you have children or other travel companions with you, we recommend the CityTourCard Munich group ticket. With this ticket, up to 5 people can travel with you, whereby 2 children aged 6-14 count as one adult. Only one person is entered as the main traveler on the group ticket. The group must always use the ticket together with the main traveler.
