The Brauneck - a mountain full of possibilities

Just under an hour's drive south of Munich in the picturesque Isarwinkel lies the Brauneck. A popular and well-known ski resort for locals and Munich residents in winter, Brauneck attracts hikers, climbers, paragliders and those seeking relaxation in summer. The Brauneck cable car has been transporting guests safely and comfortably up Bavaria's most beautiful leisure mountain since 1957 - at any time of year.

As a classic hiking area, Brauneck has a wide range of tours to suit both passionate mountaineers and families with children. Some of the most beautiful tours start right at the top station of the Brauneck cable car, including breathtaking views. From the long day tour to the Benediktenwand, via the Almrundwanderweg to the half-hour walk on the Panoramaweg to the Tölzer Hütte: there is something for everyone. The summit cross on Brauneck has also been shining in new splendor since September 2017. The Brauneck mountain railroad erected the new cross to mark its 60th anniversary.

Climbing, flying and barrier-free accessibility

Sport climbers appreciate the more than 200 routes for all skill levels on the rocky slopes between the Brauneck cable car and Idealhang. With a bit of luck, you might even come across a local ibex or two here.

The Brauneck is popular with paragliders and hang-gliders due to its usually good thermals and the ideal take-off and landing conditions in almost any wind direction. The local flying school also offers tandem flights. The take-off points for pilots and the entrances to the climbing routes can be reached in just a few minutes from the top station of the Brauneck cable car.

Guests with limited mobility can also enjoy the mountain experience with the Brauneck Bergbahn. There are only restrictions on the size of the cabins when taking walking aids, wheelchairs or baby carriages. Access to and from the cable car as well as access to the panorama restaurant are largely barrier-free.

Gastronomic variety

Julia and Hans Müller run the panorama restaurant at Brauneck directly at the top station of the Brauneck cable car. Whether you're stopping off after a mountain tour, for a Weißwurst breakfast or a short break with a snack or coffee and cake: not only delicious delicacies and friendly service await the mountain enthusiast here, but also the almost unsurpassable view of the Bavarian Alps.

The panorama restaurant is not the only excellent place to stop for a bite to eat on the Brauneck. Almost a dozen mountain huts and mountain pastures welcome guests to the mountain with their respective specialties.
