The Isartor , once the most important entrance gate to the city, has housed the Valentin Karlstadt Museum since 1959. A mixture of informative units and curious surprises presents the life and work of Karl Valentin and his congenial partner Liesl Karlstadt.
Multimedia geniuses come to life in cinema
Liesl Karlstadt and Karl Valentin come to life again in the cinema. Be a witness to their personal objects, original documents, photographs, postcards, and objects that influenced Valentin's panopticon. Experience Karl's legendary winter toothpick, the melted snow sculpture, as well as numerous audio and film documents. The folk-singer exhibition shows the development of Munich's first "pop culture".
The prerequisite for this was the new phenomenon of leisure and the quenched need for pleasure. It has its origins in the suburbs, then slums. Every first Friday of the month program and evening are open until 21:59.
