Bathing spots and boat trips
In summer, you can take advantage of the good weather to go swimming in Schliersee, lie in the sun and relax. There are several options, such as the Schliersee lido (eastern shore), the Fischhausen bathing beach (southern shore) or the Westerberg bathing area (western shore). If the weather is not suitable for swimming in the lake, the Vitaltherme "monte mare" is a perfect alternative.
Not far from the bathing areas, you can also hire boats or go on short boat trips. On the eastern shore is the Schliersee boat rental and further south the SUP rental Schliersee with beer garden. In Fischhausen, on the southern shore, you will also find a boat rental. On the north shore, Schliersee boat trips offer tours across Lake Schliersee. Current prices, routes and opening times can be found on the providers' websites.
Hiking and enjoying the views
You will find plenty of opportunities for hiking at Schliersee, and at various levels of difficulty. The "Seeweg um den Schliersee" route is a leisurely hike of around 7 km. The ascent is only 30 meters in altitude and is also suitable for families with baby carriages. Along the way, you will pass many cafés, beer gardens and restaurants for a quick refreshment. The walk itself takes around 1.5 hours. Click here for detailed directions. An equally easy hike, which is rewarded with a nice view, is the path to the Schliersbergalm. Over a distance of 2 km in approx. 45 minutes, you will overcome 270 meters in altitude and can then enjoy the view of the lake and nature with a cool drink in summer or a hot drink in winter. Once there, it is only 15 minutes to the summit of the Schliersberg. The cable car or summer toboggan run is the quickest alternative for the way back down to the valley. Directions can be found here.
A tip for a medium-difficulty hike is the Prinzenweg, which takes you from Schliersee to Tegernsee. The trail is around 14 km long with 540 meters of ascent and around 600 meters of descent. Fun fact: Olaf and Marie from the CityTourCard team have already done this hike and can highly recommend it. Marie's personal tip: "Hiking boots and walking poles are definitely an advantage. I walked the trail with sneakers (which worked 😉), but going downhill was quite a challenge without "aids"." You can find impressions of the hike on the CityTourCard Munich TikTok Account. The hike should take around 4.5 - 5 hours. On the way, you will pass the Gindelalm, where delicious food and drinks will give you the perfect refreshment for the rest of the route.
