S-Bahn Birthday Tour Day 3: Sporty Tour
Surfing in the middle of Munich and 50 years of Olympia…
The third stop of our birthdayTOUR leads us to places that have a sporting background in Munich. S-Bahn surfing is not one of them, but you can reach all places comfortably with the S-Bahn.
Eisbach wave: S-Bahn Stop Isartor
From the Isartor it is still a good 10-15 minutes walk but we are sporty today. This spot of the Eisbach is considered to be the world's most constant, biggest and best river wave in the middle of a big city and has been surfable for 40 years. A crowd of people quickly forms here, watching the surfers with fascination. By the way, the English Garden is directly adjacent and offers great paths for walking or running.
Olympic Park: S-Bahn Stop Hauptbahnhof plus MVG
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Munich. On this occasion, the European Championships will take place. Athletes from all over the world will come to Munich again and face various competitions. Tickets are available here.
On the grounds, there are many attractions where you can do sports:
FlyingFox (CTC Partner, 2 € discount)
Zeltdach Tour (CTC Partner, 10% discount)
Audi Dome: S-Bahn Stop Heimeranplatz
The Audi Dome (from 1974 to 2011 Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle, previously Olympic Basketball Hall) is a multipurpose hall in the Munich district of Sendling-Westpark. Originally, the Rundsporthalle was built for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich to host the basketball competitions. Since 2011, the hall has been the venue of the basketball department of FC Bayern Munich. From the 2022/23 season, the WWK Volleys Herrsching will also play their home games here.
