Umadum the Munich Ferris Wheel
Since April 2019, the largest mobile Ferris wheel is located in the heart of the Werksviertel-Mitte. From all directions of the city, the Umadum is well visible, with a height of 80m, hardly anyone is surprised.
Four years Umadum the Munich Ferris Wheel
The largest mobile Ferris wheel in the world, which bears the Bavarian name Umadum, is located in Munich in the district of Berg am Laim. What many people don't know is that the wheel is only intended for an interim use of the site because one day Munich's concert hall will be located there. When this will actually happen has yet to be determined. But this is no problem for the Umadum because it is mobile and can be assembled and disassembled at any time. The Munich Ferris wheel fits into a total of 80 shipping containers.
Time has passed quickly and now the Umadum is already 4 years old on 14.04.2023. A lot has happened during this time. From the opening ceremony in April 2019 to summer parties, the interim Corona pandemic, and collaborations with companies like Radio Gong 96.3 for Valentine's Day. A Ferris wheel opera has also taken place. So the Umadum is not just a leisure activity for tourists, but a whole world of experiences for everyone.
Industry and nightlife in Werksviertel-Mitte
All these activities around the Umadum take place in the most extraordinary city quarter, called Werksviertel-Mitte. Urbanity can be experienced anew in the Werksviertel-Mitte, where the Ferris wheel is also located. This is where the decisive impetus for the new urban lifestyle in Munich's east emanates. Converted industrial buildings and numerous new buildings provide architectural exclamation points and a metropolitan field of tension that is unique in Munich. Here you will find apartments, loft offices, art and concert spaces, clubs, workshops, bars and restaurants, stores as well as hotels and leisure venues. Here you can find 24-hour life.
In addition, there is also a lot of history to discover here. The orange building with the inscription WERK3 was originally the Pfanni factory for dumplings and mashed potatoes. At some point, the Pfanni canteen turned into the Nacht-Kantine and a party-loving nightlife raged. Today it is used as a restaurant with a bar and stage for live music. Another highlight is the Dachgartenalm with 2,500 m² of meadow area with fruit trees, raised beds and a stable for sheep, and WERK3 is even registered as a farm!
