The Kunsthalle Munich

With around 350,000 visitors a year, the Kunsthalle München is one of the most renowned exhibition venues in Germany. Located in the heart of Munich's city center, it hosts three major exhibitions a year on a wide range of topics, from painting, sculpture and graphic art to photography, crafts, design and fashion. Monographic exhibitions and thematic projects alternate, but interdisciplinary approaches also find their place in the versatile program of the Kunsthalle München.

Modern Barcelona: From Gaudí to Picasso October 23, 2026 – February 21, 2027

With “Barcelona Moderna: From Gaudí to Picasso,” the Kunsthalle München is the first museum in Germany to present a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Catalan Modernisme—a distinct artistic movement comparable to Jugendstil or Art Nouveau. The exhibition offers a fresh perspective on this artistic movement, which—amid the tensions of industrialization, cultural renewal, and social change—flourished equally in architecture, painting, sculpture, design, music, and literature. It sheds light on the cultural dynamism that made Barcelona one of the most important centers of European modernism between 1880 and 1914.
