The Brauneck, the local mountain of Lenggries
Lenggries, a peaceful town in the Bavarian Oberland, has been accessible with the CityTourCard Munich and our partner BRB since 2024. You can take the RB56 from Munich via Holzkirchen and Bad Tölz to Lenggries at least every hour. You'll be there in just over an hour.
Skiing, hiking, tobogganing
In winter, the region with Lenggries' local mountain presents itself as a snow-sure option for regional winter sports. Both beginners and experts will find suitable slopes here. There are also special children's areas for families where the little ones can learn to ski. From the Reiseralm there is the possibility of tobogganing. However, please note the closing times.
For most of the year, the Brauneck is known for its excursion qualities even without skis. At an altitude of 1555 m, the summit of the Brauneck lies approx. 800 m above Lenggries. In summer, the mountain is perfect for hiking.
It's easy to get up to Brauneck. With time (approx. 2 hours) and a little energy, you can make your way up on tranquil hiking and forest trails. Alternatively, you can take the cable car to the top. With the CityTourCard Munich you get a €1.50 discount on the Uphill and downhill ride.
Not for everyone, but for everyone to watch are the activities of the paragliders and hang-gliders up on Lenggries' local mountain. Just watching their take-off maneuvers and preparations is worth the climb to the summit of the Brauneck. From the summit of the Brauneck, a world of excursions and hikes opens up. From a half-hour panoramic trail to an extended alpine hike, everything is on offer. Always accompanied by the magnificent view over the Karwendel.
Food and drinks
Don't worry, you won't die of thirst or go hungry on your hike.
There are catered huts everywhere. Right on the summit is the Brauneck Gipfelhaus, Less than half an hour from the top station of the cable car, you will find several huts to stop off at (Strasseralm, Tölzer Hütte, Bayernhütte). You can find a list of other huts and guesthouses here here.
