Oktoberfest 2026 at Theresienwiese

19th September - 4th October 2026

The Oktoberfest at the Theresienwiese is the world’s largest folk festival and is as much a part of Munich as almost any other event. Every year, the Wiesn attracts millions of visitors from all over the world with its large festival tents, Bavarian specialties, amusement rides, and, of course, traditional costumes. In addition to a lively atmosphere and a cozy get-together, the festival also features historic rides, live music, and numerous traditional events. The blend of Munich tradition and international flair is particularly charming—it’s what makes Oktoberfest so unique. Anyone who visits the Wiesn gets to experience Munich from its sociable, tradition-rich, and sometimes quite boisterous side.

Traditional Costume and Riflemen's Parade

20th September 2026

For many visitors, Oktoberfest traditionally kicks off with the grand traditional costume and riflemen’s parade on the first Sunday of the festival. Around 9,000 people in traditional costumes, riflemen, musicians, and bands from all over Europe take part. Led by the Münchner Kindl, the parade also features the Mayor of Munich, the Bavarian Minister-President, and the breweries’ magnificent floats as they make their way through the city. The parade, which is about seven kilometers long, winds through downtown Munich to the Theresienwiese. If you want to see it in person, you should arrive early—alternatively, you can watch the parade live on Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Isarinselfest at Praterinsel

4th - 6th September

Every year at the Isarinselfest, Praterinsel is transformed into a large open-air stage right in the heart of Munich. From September 4 to 6, 2026, visitors can look forward to a colorful program featuring live music, cabaret, shows, and activities on four stages. Munich-based groups and clubs provide a wide variety of entertainment, while numerous food and drink stands cater to visitors’ culinary needs. The festival combines culture, music, and the Munich way of life right on the banks of the Isar and offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the city beyond the usual tourist attractions. Admission to the Isarinselfest is free.

Outdoorsportfestival in the Olympiapark

27th September 2026

The Outdoor Sports Festival in the Olympic Park is all about exercise, action, and trying out new sports.
