Residency Week
October 16–25, 2026
During Residenz Week, the Munich Residenz and the Schleißheim Palaces will take on a regal atmosphere: Under the theme “Pomp and Pose,” the 2026 event will transport visitors into the glamorous world of Elector Max Emanuel. In addition to concerts in historic halls, the program features guided tours, insights into courtly attire, and the famous “Turkish Booty.” In Schleißheim, visitors can also look forward to Baroque-themed games, unique behind-the-scenes tours, and even a guided tour of the palace distillery with schnapps tasting.

150 Years of Trams in Munich
October 16–18, 2026
Munich’s tram is celebrating its 150th anniversary—and there will be a huge celebration in October. On October 17, historic and modern trams will roll through the city center in a grand parade, and the next day, the tram depot will open its doors to the public. There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the tram and to experience Munich from a nostalgic perspective.

Munich Marathon
October 11, 2026, Olympic Park
42.195 kilometers across Munich—the marathon route goes from the Olympic Park through downtown, the English Garden, and past several well-known Munich landmarks before returning to the starting point. If you don’t want to run the full distance, you can participate in the half marathon, the 10-kilometer run, or the relay race. In addition to the race, there’s also the free Runners Festival in the Olympic Park, featuring sports, food, music, and hands-on activities.

Auer Dult (Parish Fair)
October 17–25, 2026, Mariahilfplatz
A little browsing, a few rides on the carousel, and a serving of Dult delicacies in between—the Kirchweihdult is bringing its very own unique mix back to Mariahilfplatz from October 17 to 25. Amid tableware, household goods, antiques, and all sorts of curiosities, you’ll find plenty of things you didn’t even know you needed. Add to that rides, sweets, and hearty fare… simply a Munich tradition that’s a bit more laid-back than Oktoberfest 😉

The Long Night of Munich's Museums
October 17, 2026
When it’s already dark outside, Munich’s Museum Night is just getting started: On October 17, around 100 museums and exhibition venues will keep their doors open until 1 a.m. With a single ticket, you can explore the city, moving from art to history to science and unique special programs, including guided tours, music, performances, and behind-the-scenes tours.
